CRITERIA

• Applicant must be a minority student (African American/Black or Hispanic/Latino)

• Applicant must be a first-generation college student.

  • A first-generation college student is someone whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) or immediate family members (brother/sister) have not attended or obtained a degree from a four-year college/university.

    • Here are a few examples to help you:

      • YES: My dad went to a trade school to become a barber.

      • YES: My mom went to a two-year community college.

      • NO: My mom went to a four-year university but didn’t graduate, and my dad didn’t go to college at all.

      • NO: My older brother is currently at a four-year university.

• Applicant must be a high school graduating senior and will be a freshman in the Fall of 2025 school year.

• Applicant must be accepted as a full-time student at a (DC, GA, NC, SC, MD, MS, or VA) state college/university program for the upcoming academic semester and will have on-campus housing.

• Applicant must complete and submitted by May 31, 2025 deadline.

• Applicant must submit a VIDEO stating “What does being a first-generation college student mean to you? And why you should be selected for the 2025 Dorm Room Makeover? Be creative!!

• Bonus Question: If your dorm room style were a person, who would it be?
